Merlin Charles Kreiser

Merlin "Mert" Charles Kreiser, Sr., 87, of Winston-Salem passed away on January 14, 2023 at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living in Kernersville, North Carolina. A native of Lancaster, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Fred and Isabelle (Pitzen) Kreiser and husband of the late Elizabeth (Butler) Kreiser. Mert proudly served over twenty years in the United States Air Force. He served in a variety of assignments, including Vietnam and retired in 1974. From there, he pursued a career in the trucking industry and retired as the terminal manager for HFCS Transport. Upon retirement, Mert and his wife, Elizabeth, traveled across the country as part of an RV community. Merlin is survived by his children, Sharon Long, Merlin "Mert" Kreiser, Jr. and wife, Claire Giffin, and Philip Kreiser and wife, Monica Harris; his grandchildren, Jonathan Kreiser, Jordan Kreiser, Maeghan Harris, and Madison Harris; and his sister, Ruth Ann Runde. In addition to his parents, Merlin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Kreiser and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Runde. The family will receive friends at Holy Cross Catholic Parish, 616 S Cherry St, Kernersville, NC 27284 on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 12:45PM-1:45PM. A Catholic mass will be at Holy Cross Catholic Parish, 616 S Cherry St, Kernersville, NC 27284 on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 2:00PM with Father Noah Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery, 1050 Cemetery Street, Kernersville, NC 27284 where full military funeral honors will be rendered.
