Rex Adam Folkerts

July 26, 1972 — June 13, 2025

Rex passed away unexpectedly in a moped accident on June 13th 2025, and while his loss was sudden and heartbreaking, the legacy he leaves behind is one of incredible determination, passion, love, and laughter.

Rex Adam Folkerts was born on July 26th, 1972, in Milford, Delaware to Terry and Janet Folkerts. He spent his high school years in Rockford, Iowa, attending Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock High School through the 11th grade. Traditional education wasn't Rex's path — he hated school — but that never held him back. Rex forged his own way with grit, ambition, and a strong belief in his vision. Rex got married to Amy Smith in 1995. Rex and Amy welcomed two beautiful daughters, Rhianna Marie Folkerts in 1999 and Olivia Kaye Folkerts in 2003. Rex divorced and remarried later on to Tonya Diesburg in Reno, Nevada in 2006. Surviving is his wife Tonya Folkerts of Kernersville, NC; his daughter Rhianna Doyle (Anthony) of Columbus, OH; his daughter Olivia Folkerts of Clear Lake, IA; his sister Angela Kerchner (Steve) of Lennox, IA; his stepson Tanner Clark (Brooke) of Ankeny, IA; his stepson Mavrick Clark (Jenn) of Minot, ND; his stepson Metric Clark of Allison, IA. Along with his step grandchildren, nieces, nephew, and MANY friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.

Rex was an accomplished man — the kind of person who didn’t just dream big but made those dreams happen. Rex started his business in 1999 as Rex’s Furniture Repair, and later on changed names of his company to Furniture Network, Furniture Pro Solutions and, Furniture Solutions Network. Then Rex later merged his company with Uniter's, rebranding it to Uniter’s Group/FSN. He built FSN from the ground up, pouring his heart, creativity, and relentless work ethic into it until it became a thriving, successful business. Rex left his legacy as Executive Vice President at Uniter’s Group/FSN. Once Rex had an idea, there was no stopping him — he saw things through with determination and pride. But it wasn’t just what he built that made him special — it was how he lived. Rex had a magnetic personality and a brilliant sense of humor. He was a natural host, always ready to welcome people into his home, pour a drink, share a story, and make you laugh until your stomach hurt. He cared deeply — for his family, his friends, his community — and showed that care in big and small ways, every single day.

A celebration of life will be held on June 20th, 2025, from 5:00PM-Midnight for family and friends. To honor him, we’re gathering for a backyard celebration — with music, drinks, and food — just the way Rex would have wanted it at.
