Sharyn Yvonne Prescott

Sharyn Yvonne Prescott was a woman who lived life in full color, Sharyn passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. Born in Havelock, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William and Doris (Riggs) Bennett Jr., but she became a devoted pillar of the Kernersville community for four decades.

Throughout her vibrant life, Sharyn wore many hats: dedicated education professional, fashion-forward business owner, mother and the beloved matriarch known simply as "Tutu."

For over 30 years, she served as a tireless advocate in special education and speech therapy, pouring her heart into ensuring every student found their voice. An avid traveler and lifelong learner, Sharyn’s curiosity for the world was matched only by her eye for elegance. As the owner of a downtown dress shop, she used her flair for fashion to make every woman feel like a queen—beautiful, confident, and seen.

Sharyn was a fixture at every celebration. Most recently, she channeled her signature devotion into supporting her son at The Prescott Restaurant until its closing in January 2025.

She is survived by her children: her son, Robert Guy Prescott III (Trey) and his son, Robert Guy Prescott IV (Cade); her daughter, Courtney Hamlett and spouse and their children, Zane Twelvetrees Hamlett and Grady Boland Hamlett; and the father of her children, Bob Prescott Jr. She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Bennett.

Per Sharyn’s request, we ask that you help us "tip our hats to Tutu" by wearing your favorite hat to her celebration of life later this month.
