Biography
Kernersville-Velma R. Cope, 79, died February 26, 2014.
Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Saturday March 1, 2014 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Templon officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Gur Cemetery.
A native of Moore County, she was the daughter of the late Gladys Emerson and Noah Alton Richardson. She was an RN, served as Head of Pediatrics, working for a number of years with High Point Regional Hospital and also private Doctors' Practices. Velma was a great diagnostician, caring, nurturing, as she truly loved her profession.
She was a beautiful mother, wife and companion.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Parks, and brothers Robert and Donald Richardson.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years Bill Cope of the home; daughters Andrea Cope Templon and Chris of Madison, NC, and Erica York Cope of St. Petersburg, FL; son William Brent Cope of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren Harmony Templon and Valerie Templon; sisters Florene Williams and Marvin of Eagle Springs, NC, and Brenda McNulty of Fayetteville, NC.
The family will have a reception immediately following the Interment. They will visit at The Jefferson House beside Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home.
