Virginia Lois Queen
Apr 20, 1928 — Mar 19, 2022
Virginia Lois Queen, 93, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully Saturday, March 19, 2022.
Born April 20, 1928, this wonderful woman was known as Virginia and/or Lois depending on what side of the NC/VA State line you were on. Relatives from Virginia knew her as Lois, and here in NC she was known as Virginia. Her favorite name though was Mom, Grandma or Granny.
Lois married the love of her life, the late Elvin Foy Queen, Sr. of South Hill, VA in 1948. They started a new life in NC in 1955 and had four children, Barbara Q. Tucker of Kernersville, NC, the late Elvin F. Queen, Jr., Sandra Q. Fowler of Raleigh, NC, and Ronald G. Queen of Winston-Salem, NC. She leaves behind five precious grandchildren, Clint Queen of Kernersville, NC, Matt Tucker of Kernersville, NC, Jon Tucker of Gambrills, MD, Gerald Fowler of Raleigh, NC, and Michael Fowler of Raleigh, NC; nine beautiful great grandchildren; two sisters, Eunice Cogbill and Iris Edmonds, both of VA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Elvin, Sr. and her son, Elvin, Jr., Lois was preceded in death by her sister, Bernice Poythress; and her brothers, Sonny Edmonds, Vernon Edmonds, Kenneth Edmonds, and Dennis Edmonds, all from VA.
Lois was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by many. Her family was her greatest joy.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Winston-Salem, NC. The family will greet friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
