Janice Eileen Grose

May 15, 1950 — April 22, 2026

Janice Eileen Grose (née Buntrock), born May 15, 1950, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, passed away April 22, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado.

Janice was a loving wife, devoted mother of four, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful Christian. She was deeply devoted to God, family, and friends—an insightful encourager, advocate, leader, and caregiver, beautiful both inside and out.

Raising her children and serving others through ministry were central to Janice’s life. She led and served in Couples Club, Bible Study Fellowship, and other Bible study and support groups, and was known for creating spaces filled with warmth and laughter. A gifted seamstress, she made clothing for herself and others. She enjoyed camping and fishing and accumulated many memorable family adventures, including desert sandstorms, earthquakes, fierce winds, and roadside mishaps. She was also a voracious reader, a gift she shared generously—especially with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Cribbage and Pinochle.

Janice began her professional life as a fifth-grade teacher after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Long Beach State College. Later in life, her calling expanded into social work and counseling. She earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with certification in trauma treatment from the University of Maryland. An early practitioner of EMDR, she walked alongside others with wisdom, compassion, and steady presence, helping many find healing, stability, and renewed hope.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Buntrock and Luella Buntrock (née Siefkes); her sister, Glenda Hairston (née Buntrock), and brother-in-law Ken Hairston; and her brother, Douglas Buntrock.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ed Grose of Aurora, Colorado; her sister, Sheri Horan (Matt) of Lewiston, Idaho; her sister-in-law, Kimberly Buntrock of Carlsbad, California; and her children and their families: Diana Tomlin (Bryan) of College Station, Texas, with children Efren, Arlene, and Marco Tomlin-Lopez; Mark Grose (Stacey) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with children Rylee, Harper, and Channing Grose, and great-granddaughter Elowyn; Noah Grose of Chandler, Arizona, with children Zacharias and Myles; and Cassandra Call (Brian) of Parker, Colorado, with children Brecken, Lucas, and Adelynn.
