John-Paul Underwood
Jun 14, 1977 — Jun 25, 2026
John-Paul (JP) Underwood passed away on June 25th, 2026, 11 days after his 49th birthday, from complications of his last stroke. Able to bounce back from previous strokes, these last two robbed him of so much of his joie de vivre.
JP was born June 14th, 1977, at Mercy Hospital in Denver, Colorado, to Paul & Geralyn Underwood. At two years old, he helped his parents build their home off Hilltop in Windy Hills, 5 miles east of Parker, where he was eventually joined by his two sisters and met his oldest friend, Jimmy Lance.
He attended Mountain View and Northeast elementary schools before advancing to Parker Middle School, Elizabeth High School and Ponderosa High School before graduating from Douglas County’s Arapahoe Community College Program.
After graduation, he worked for various employers in Parker, including the Town of Parker. Bitten by wanderlust in his 30’s, he moved to Seattle, Washington, where he began a career with Enterprise Leasing, eventually transferring to Austin, Texas for several years before returning to Denver. He moved on to Hertz’s specialty rentals division in 2022.
A lifelong car enthusiast, he helped with his father’s Corvette racing interests as well as Tapp’s racing and Miller’s racing. He could be counted on to help out friends and family with their car maintenance and repairs as well.
He is survived by his father, Paul H Underwood (Nina Poc) of Texas, his mother Geralyn Hess-Underwood, formerly of Parker, a daughter, Victoria Bruch of Denver, his two sisters, Kathryn (Justin) France of Parker and Elizabeth (Adam) Sandstum of Fort Collins, and a stepsister Farah Poc of Texas. His two nephews, Aiden France and Sr. Airman Jason France, and niece Shannon France, all of Parker. As well as Aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins, in Colorado, Texas, Alaska, and Virginia.
Services to be held July 10th, 2026, at Ave Maria Catholic Church, Parker, Colorado
Rosary at 10:30 am, Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m., and a reception to follow at noon in Dwyer Hall at the church.
