Barbara Horner Wright

Barbara Horner Wright, formerly Barbara Hulse, lovingly known to many as “Ma,” passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, surrounded by her children. She was 71 years old, just weeks shy of her 72nd birthday.

Barbara will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives she touched. To her children, their friends, and countless others throughout the years, she was simply “Ma.” While she filled many roles during her lifetime, being a mother and caring for others were among the things she treasured most.

If you knew Barbara, you knew love. You felt seen, heard, accepted, and welcomed. Her door was always open, the coffee was always brewing, and she was the kind of person people could count on no matter the circumstance. She cared deeply for those around her and had a remarkable ability to make others feel at home in her presence.

Over the years, Barbara often spoke about how she hoped to be remembered. She reflected lovingly on her dearest friends, who became more like family, and on the joy she found in caring for children in need. She also cherished her passions for antiques, crafting, repurposing treasured items, gardening, landscaping, and interior design. Barbara had a gift for finding beauty in the world around her and always tried to see the very best in everyone she met.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jason (Christine) Elmore, Molly (Zach) Plath, and AJ (Emily) Wright; and by her beloved grandchildren, Jacob and Connor Elmore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan Allison Horner and Helen Ursula Horner (Daly), and by her brother, Gary Horner.

Her kindness, creativity, warmth, and unwavering love will leave a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Family and friends of Ma are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Le Roy Country Club. A meal will be served from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.

Guests are encouraged to bring memories and stories to share in honor of Barbara’s life and legacy.

Plants and flowers are welcome. Donations may also be made in Barbara’s memory to any charity supporting children in need.
