Suzanne Marie Lorenz
August 30, 1956 — April 17, 2026
Suzanne Marie Lorenz (“Suzie”), 69, of Buckeye, Arizona, passed away on April 17, 2026. She was born on August 30, 1956, in Buffalo, New York.
Suzie moved from New York to Arizona in 1976, where she built a life rooted in hard work, friendship, and dedication to those she loved. She had a true passion for her work as a hairdresser, a career that allowed her to connect with people and bring joy to others. She later worked for AT&T as a twist operator, where she earned the affectionate nickname “Twister Sue.” In both roles, Suzie formed lasting friendships and left a positive impression on everyone she met.
Suzie was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Downey and William Downey Sr.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Amy Sue Lehmann and Joseph Anthony Jr. (Angela); her grandchildren, Stephanie Gaitan, Victoria Gaitan, Alexander Lorenz, and Hayden Lee; her great-grandchild, Kayden Gaitan; her brother, William Downey Jr.; and her best friend, Tammy Bond. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Suzie will be remembered for her warm spirit, her sense of humor, and the genuine care she showed to others throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be announced by the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to organizations supporting domestic violence awareness and education.
