Velda Jean Jones

Velda Jean Jones (Cullum), age 85, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, in Glendale, Arizona. She was born on June 15, 1940, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Jay H. Cullum and Auda L. Cullum.

Velda loved being with her family, going to church, ministering to people, and worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ. She truly lived her faith every day and was a living example of what a Christian should be. She was kind, loving, and compassionate to everyone she met, always putting others before herself and sharing God’s love with those around her.

One of Velda’s greatest joys was gathering with family and enjoying meals together, especially her favorite outings to Golden Corral. She was a faithful member of Harvest Church Assembly of God in Glendale, Arizona, where she cherished her church family and fellowship.

Velda was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Auda Cullum; her beloved husband, Donnie L. Jones; and her daughter, Debra J. Kenedy.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Frank Jay Brown; grandchildren Katrina C. Hoon, David R. Henderson, Joshua J. Brown, and Vali M. McDaniel; and great-grandchildren Jewel A. Hoon, Cristina L. Brown, Kaci C. Hoon, Kinley P. McDaniel, and Grayson K. McDaniel. She is also survived by her sister, Loma McDaniel; her sister, Jane Turnbaugh-Zabriskie; and her brother, J.C. Cullum.

Velda will be laid to rest beside her husband, Donnie, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

Her legacy of faith, love, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
