Carmen Ester Negron

Dec 3, 1927 — Mar 23, 2025

Carmen Ester Negron passed away peacefully into God's presence at the age of 97 years old, surrounded by family, on March 23rd, 2025.  She was preceded by her loving husband Samuel Juan Negron (Sam) of 69 years, brothers Pete (Pedro), and Charlie (Carlos) and hard working, loving parents and grandparents.  Carmen is survived by her four children and their spouses; sons Sam Negron and wife Hedy, Mark Negron and wife Millie, David Negron and wife Michol, and daughter Diana Shannon and husband Michael, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and brother and sister-in-laws.

Carmen was born on December 3rd, 1927 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, to Jose' and Ines Diaz. She later relocated to Williamsburg Brooklyn, New York with her parents at a young age where she would meet her future husband "Sammy" as a child.  After being married and having 2 children, they moved from the busy city to East Islip, New York; a small town on Long Island and considered "country living" in those times.  There they had 2 more children and raised their family.  Carmen spent most of her life in East Islip, New York but later relocated with Sam in 2019 to Albuquerque, New Mexico due to his compromised health.  After he passed away, she remained in New Mexico, living with her daughter, son-in-law and 2 of her 13 grandchildren and 8 of her 24 great grandchildren nearby.  Carmen often stated that she felt closest to God when spending time outdoors. Oh how she enjoyed taking walks, tending to flowers, and commenting on the beautiful birds and their habits.  She also enjoyed greeting "Mr. Ed", the horse next door, on a regular basis.  As a lover of music she sang and had a tune for everyday living.  Carmen enjoyed humor and reading. She had a collection of philosophical quotes from various people that she would pass on.  Though private in many ways, she was very social and enjoyed conversing with people whether she knew them or not.  Carmen always stated that her family was such a blessing to her and how thankful she was to live a long, healthy life but was ready to be with the Lord and Sam while still standing on her own two feet.  While taking a walk with her daughter, her mind cognitively intact, that prayer was answered above and beyond.

We are forever thankful to our Lord, King and Savior Jesus Christ for the abundant, beautiful years He gave her to us.  A private Celebration of  Life gathering will be held by the family in the future.
