James "Jim" Raymond Miller
May 4, 1955 — May 26, 2026
James “Jim” Raymond Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on May 26, 2026, after a brief illness. Born May 4,1955, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and lived in Courtland, NY until his early 20s, and then made his home in New Mexico. Jim was the son of the late Francis “Jim” and Mary “Sue” Miller. He graduated from Cortland High School, class of 1973. Soon after, in 1975, Jim married the love of his life, Sheldene “Shelly” Anderson and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, August 2, 2025. They raised four children: Deric Miller (Cynthia) of NJ, Renee Loghry (David) of TX, Kevin Miller (Crystal) of NM and Travis Miller (Maegan) of NM. They were blessed with seven grandchildren: Aedin, Skye and Lief Miller, and Rebecca, Preston, Brooke and Jenna Loghry. Jim spent over 25 years with the City of Albuquerque, as a Supervisor in the Solid Waste department until he retired. He was a skilled woodworker, and family members have cherished items he created for them, in their homes. His knack for keeping a car running for a long time was legendary, as he took great care to do so. He could fix anything around the house and always kept busy improving his and Shelly’s home. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Shelly, his children and grandchildren, his siblings Susan (Lee) ten Haken of Colorado, Karen Chapman (James) of New York, Robert (Janet) Miller of New Jersey, Richard (Diana) Miller of New York, Linda (Thomas) Crompton of Pennsylvania, Edward (Susan) Miller of Michigan and Pamela (Ed) Miller of North Carolina. He was also close with his in-laws, Ronald and Iris Anderson, Jackie Anderson, Ronald (Shannon) Anderson and Christina (Richard) Jones, along with many nieces and nephews. His life was a testament to love, laughter, hard work and resilience. He will be missed and remembered by all who love him. A memorial will be held on July 26, 2026, at Solon Sportsman Club in East Freetown, NY beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Kidney Association in Jim’s honor.
