Thomas Anthony Anderson

Thomas Anthony Anderson peacefully passed away on October 25, 2024 at the age of 91 years old. He has been preceeded in death by his parents Thomas B. and Margaret C. Anderson. He is survived by his daughter Anne Carlson (Dwight) of MO, daughter Karen Radosevich (David) of AZ, daughter Geralyn Sanson (David) of KS, daughter Michelle Dakofsky (Andy) of NM, son Thomas Anderson of CO, and daughter Janelle Lopez (James) of NM, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Born in Kansas City, KS as an only child, he was loved dearly by his parents, aunts, and uncles. He attended De La Salle Military Academy, and later graduated from St. Benedict’s College in Atchison, KS. He obtained a Bachelors in Chemistry and earned credits towards a post graduate degree in Physical Chemistry. It is at St. Benedict’s College where he met his future wife, Geraldine at Mount St. Scholastica. He spent over 20 years in the United States Navy travelling the world before he retired as a Lt. Commander. He was proud of his contributions to defense programs at Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories. Thomas enjoyed his posting in Albuquerque, NM so much that he decided to raise his family in Albuquerque after his career in the Navy.
After the Navy, he joined the New Mexico State Defense Force, achieving the rank of Brigadier General. Thomas worked as a stock broker for several years at Jameson & Associates and Waddell & Reed, Albuquerque, NM. Thomas was a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from 2002 to 2014. Thomas enjoyed flying, obtaining his pilot’s license at a very young age, and a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Along with flying, he loved boating when time allowed. Thomas enjoyed others around the world as an amateur radio operator, and a member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). He was active in many other organizations including Beginning Experience, and St. Jude Express where he piloted private missions to Mexico delivering needed supplies. Thomas was co-founder of the Paradise Hills Civic Association and took pride in helping to allocate funds in the House of Representatives to improve the lives of his fellow New Mexicans.
As a devout catholic he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and he regularly attended mass at St. John XXIII Catholic Community and St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.
