Judy Pauline Watts
June 23, 1943 — June 9, 2025
Judy P. Watts, age 81, peacefully departed her home in Socorro, NM on June 9, 2025 to be with our Lord and Savior in Heaven. Her life is a testament of her love, faith and dedication to God and to her family.
Judy was born June 23, 1943, the eldest daughter of Paul and Elaine Edgington in Rincon, NM. She excelled academically, graduating as Valedictorian from Socorro High School in 1961. After furthering her education in Portales, NM, Judy returned to Socorro where she met the love of her life, Nelson Watts. During their 48 years of marriage, they built a beautiful life and family. In 1999, they moved to Grove, Oklahoma where they enjoyed family, friends and lake life.
Judy was a devoted servant of God, dedicating 20 years as the Secretary of Socorro First Baptist Church and then at the Southern Baptist Convention Center in Grove, OK. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life which was evident in her sweet, giving and compassionate heart to all who knew her. Judy had a passion for gardening, sewing, carpentry and cooking. She found joy in collecting thimbles from around the world, each one a cherished reminder of her adventures and connections she made throughout her life.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Nelson, nephew Tim Edgington, brother David Edgington and special friend G.C. Dean.She is survived by daughters Jana Caldwell and husband Joe of Grove, OK and Amy Johnson and husband Ken of Grove, OK; son Stacey Watts of Socorro, NM; grandsons Darrin Hobbs of Socorro, NM, and Justin Reed of Grove, OK; great-grandsons, Jaxx and Jeryn Reed and great-granddaughter, Aveah Reed, all of Grove, OK. Judy is also survived by brother Don Edgington and wife Toni; sisters Susan Edgington and Phyllis Roth and husband Glen; sisters-in-law Anita Edgington and Betty Lynn Davis along with many loved nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and who will carry the memory of her with them every day.
Judy’s children would like to express their sincere gratitude to sister Phyllis for her devotion and dedication to the care of their Mother.
