Juella Ella Romero

d. April 18, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Juella “Ella” Romero (Tafoya), beloved mother, Nana, great grandmother and cherished friend.

Her beautiful life met its final day April 18, 2025. Ella was born to Mariana (Sanchez) and David Tafoya in Cuchillo, New Mexico on a 23rd of February. She was one of many sisters, whom she loved dearly.

Juella worked for and retired from the Seventh Judicial District. She worked many years as a Juvenile Probation Officer. She touched many lives and did her best to help youth that needed stability and a standard, which she never shied from holding them to.

No matter breakfast or lunch, you could walk into her home and expect a full course meal. Without a seed of a doubt, there would be fresh tortillas. She was happy to feed any and all. Cooking for you was her love language. She kept her home spotless and full of Faith. She took pride in her plants, ensuring they were vibrant, healthy; and her lawn was soft and cool for her family to spend time in.

In the last years of her life, she told her grandchildren she wasn’t going anywhere until she had the pleasure of meeting her great-grandchildren. She stuck to her word. Even when she couldn’t say too much, they still brought a smile to her tired eyes.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents and sisters. She is survived by her son Kevin Sullivan, Lilia, who she claimed as her daughter, grandchildren Keegan Sullivan and Azura Romero and great grandchildren: Uzias and Andreo.

A memorial mass to honor Ella's life will be held May 8, 2025 at La Sagrada Familia Catholic Mission Church in Lemitar, New Mexico at 10:00 AM.
