Andrew "Andy" Gene Cordova Sr. March 1, 1943 - July 31, 2022 Andrew "Andy" Gene Cordova Sr., 79, passed away Sunday July 31, 2022 at his home in Commerce City, Colorado after a short yet brave battle with advanced pancreatic cancer. He was born to Aneceto "Joe" and Lupe Cordova being the 6th child of 12. He was raised in Brighton, CO and stayed, making him a lifelong resident of Colorado.He moved to the Denver area where he raised his family with ex-wife Ernestine "Tina" Cordova, they later divorced and Andy moved to his forever home in Commerce City, Co where he married his soul mate, Penny Cordova on February 15, 1991. Andy was a hard and dedicated worker, employed at King Sooper as a meat cutter for 35 years before retiring. He made so many lifelong friends there that he cherished deeply. Andy's pride and joy is his family. He was a devoted husband, son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, grandfather "Popo" and friend. Everyone that knew him, loved him. He had a vibrant personality, great sense of humor and was quite the jokester. He loved to tease everyone, especial his wife Penny, he loved making people laugh and had the rare ability to make you personally feel special. Andy was a die hard Colorado Rockies fan and loved every aspect of the game. He played on several baseball leagues throughout his life and made numerous friends doing so. He shared his love for baseball with his grandsons and loved teaching them to play. He enjoyed everything and anything that was outdoors; camping, hunting, fishing, family functions many other sports, being true to his roots he was also a Denver Bronco fan. He loved family gatherings and was an avid gardener. He kept his yard immaculate and took great pride in maintaining it even when his pet pig Lil' Bit and dogs Pugsley and Lulu had other plans for it. He was a patient, loving and nurturing man with both people and animals. He had a keen eye for detail, was very talented, classy, and his personal appearance was as well kept and as important as his yard, home, sheds, tool boxes and pretty much anything he touched, Every thing had it's place. He is preceded in death by his parents Aneceto "Joe" and Lupe Cordova, his brothers Leroy and David, sister Juanita and his ex-wife Ernestine "Tina" Cordova. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Penny Cordova, his 4 children, son Andrew "AG" Gene" Cordova, daughter's Catherine(Rick) Samora, Jenell Cordova(Frank Elliott), Denell(Lenny) Portigal, step-daughter Cheryl Ford(Mike Thompson) step-sons Joey(Becky) Porter and Christopher Porter, 25 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, 8 siblings and numerous friends. He loves each and every one of them full heartedly. He was loved dearly and will be missed sorely by all these that had the honor to know him and love him. Goodbyes are so hard and final so for now we'll say, see you later, until we are reunited once more.
