Irene Vigil
May 12, 1935 — June 11, 2026
Irene Vigil, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 11, 2026, at her home in Denver, Colorado. Born on May 12, 1935, in Denver, Irene lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and warmth, leaving a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
For over two decades, Irene served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a role in which she was unwavering in her commitment to care and compassion. Her years of service reflected not only her strength and determination but also her genuine desire to help others. Those close to Irene remember her as a good person, someone who, while occasionally mean and strict and very to the point, possessed a sharp sense of humor that lightened many moments with a well-timed joke.
Irene's love for her family and friends was evident in the way she welcomed everyone into her home. She delighted in having loved ones over, spending time in lively conversation, and lovingly preparing food to share. Her home was a hub of joy and connection, where laughter echoed alongside the hum of channel 7, her steadfast television companion regardless of the program airing. Her everyday comforts included watching her favorite shows and caring meticulously for her house, a reflection of her pride and devotion to creating a warm environment.
Her spirited nature extended beyond the home. Irene enjoyed dancing to Mexican music, her feet moving to rhythms that stirred joy and celebration. She found excitement in gambling up in the hills at Blackhawk, a hobby that brought her fun and a bit of thrill. These moments of happiness complemented the more serious parts of her character, showing a woman fully alive and engaged with the world around her.
Though firm and direct, Irene’s heart was always open to those she loved. She is remembered fondly by her sons William (Belva) and Mark, her daughter Cyndee (Rudy), and by her many grandchildren: Celestino, Bernadette, William, Robert, Christopher, Sammy, Arianna, Michael, Eric, Elenna, Tianna, Cassandra, Monica, Mark Jr., Charee and Alexandra. Her legacy continues through numerous great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews who carry with them her stories, lessons and love.
Irene’s life was also marked by loss. She was preceded in death by her parents Celestino and Elvira, her sons Jerry and Tony, and her daughters Christine and Karen. Yet through these hardships, she remained steadfast and unyielding, a pillar of strength for her family.
On her final day, surrounded by the warmth and comfort of her loved ones, Irene passed gently in her home. Her journey may have ended, but the memories she made—of laughter, love, discipline, and care—will endure deeply in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
As we reflect on Irene Vigil’s life, we remember a woman of unwavering spirit, a beacon of strength and love whose presence will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
