Alana K. Matheys
Oct 7, 1946 — Jul 3, 2026
Alana Kaye Matheys
Age 79 of Woodbury, MN passed away July 3, 2026, following a 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Alana Graycarek (GRAY C4) grew up in Two Rivers, WI, continuing her education in Milwaukee where she became a Medical Assistant. She met our dad, Ray Matheys, on Memorial Day weekend in 1972 and they were married on July 22nd that same year. She joined Ray in Minnesota, becoming Vicki, Tami and Lori’s Earth Mom, followed one year later with the birth of daughter, Tanya.
Alana was employed by the City of Maplewood for 30 years, taking pride in her detailed work as an Accounting Clerk.
All throughout her life, she loved dancing and loved that her girls danced, and you could find her dancing at any family event and often in kitchens, living rooms, and always Lenny’s II. She was the best fan at her grandsons’ events i.e. hockey, soccer, baseball, awards, ceremonies and scouting derbies… you name it, she was there.
Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin to spend time with her family. She further enjoyed spending time with her daughters along with their families and friends with whatever activity they had going on. She thoroughly enjoyed shopping, reading, watching movies, baking Christmas cookies, and loved a competitive game of Hand-n-Foot. During her final years, her favorite activity was coloring, and she LOVED having her nails painted.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ray; parents, Marvin and Pauline Graycarek; siblings, Yvonne Henrickson, Sandra Niespodziany and Steven Graycarek; one angel great grandchild Tobey Tolzman; nephew, Eddy Jonas; and multiple in-laws.
She is survived by her daughters and their families, Vicki (George & son Kody); Tami (Dave), son Tyler (Danielle) and Skyler, Mason & Hadley, son Chad (Samantha) and Harlow, Grey & Penelope, ‘bonus’ daughters and their families; Lori (Tom), son Scotty (Natalie) and Abigail, Brooklyn, Oakley & Axel; and Tanya (Eric). She is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie Jonas, Jean Lyons, Teri (Tom) Korinek; former BIL, Dick Lyons; SIL, Carol Matheys (nee Pozorski); as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
Alana was loved by many, she loved hard back, and she will be forever missed!
Family & friends are welcome to join her daughters in celebrating Alana’s life on July 13, 2026, between 2:00 and 6:00pm, at Jimmy’s Food & Drink, 1132 County Rd. E. East, Vadnais Heights, MN 55110.
