Dennis Gerard DeMarais

May 28, 1955 — April 25, 2026

Dennis Gerard DeMarais, age 70, passed away on April 25, 2026.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Denny was a man who made an impression on everyone he met—not by trying to stand out, but simply by being himself. He had a rare ability to accept people exactly as they were, never judging, always welcoming. His easygoing nature made him someone you could talk to about anything, and his sharp, sarcastic sense of humor kept people laughing.

Denny was kind, helpful, and deeply loving. He found his greatest joy in being a dad and a grandpa, roles he cherished above all else. He loved sports, especially the Timberwolves and the Vikings. He could often be found playing bags or throwing darts. He also loved being at the lake and spending time on the boat, either fishing or just relaxing. Some of his happiest moments were spent out on the water. In the kitchen, he was known as a pretty good cook and liked to grill, bringing people together not just with food, but with warmth and connection.

He is survived by his daughter, Traci K. Bartz; son, Lucas J. DeMarais; (Heather Feist) son, Jake R. DeMarais; and grandson, Maxwel Brown and Luciano M. DeMarais.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Judy Marie DeMarais, father, George Harvey DeMarais, mother, Rose Carmen Ponessa, brother, Douglas Jay DeMarais, grandson, Drew J. Bartz; and granddaughter, Emily T. Bartz.

He will be remembered for his laughter, his open heart, and the way he made people feel seen and accepted. His presence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his spirit will live on in the countless memories shared by those who loved him.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. at Sandberg Funeral and Cremation Services in North St. Paul.

Denny, Pops, Daddy, Papa, Coach, Papa D, you will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
