McBride, James H.Age 73, resident of Minnesota Veterans Home, formerly of Centerville, MNPassed away on May 29, 2026. Preceded in death by daughter, Tracie Joy, mother, Marlene, father, Gayhart, sister, Suzie, brothers, Ronny and Sammy, and other relatives and friends whom he loved so much. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Irene; loving children, Jay (Katie), Jennie (Jim), Stacie (Dave), and Jimmy (Cyndi); 21 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his sisters Gloria, Felicia, and Gail (Chris). After growing up on West 7th Street in St. Paul, Jim embarked on his first great adventure by serving in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. His military service sparked a lifelong love of travel, which eventually led him and his family to explore all 50 states together, creating countless cherished memories along the way. As a young man, Jim began his career in the Red Owl cabinet shop. Through hard work, skill, and determination, he quickly rose through the ranks to become the youngest construction superintendent overseeing store projects throughout the five-state region. In 1981, he fulfilled his entrepreneurial vision by founding JH McBride Construction and Real Estate. Following rehabilitation from his first strokes in 2011, Jim continued to live with purpose and determination. He worked for Goodwill for several years, where his warm smile, positive attitude, and engaging personality left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. Jim was a faithful member of Redeeming Love Church for 47 years. During that time, he served on the church board and played a significant role in overseeing the remodeling of the church building, contributing both his leadership and construction expertise to a place he deeply loved. Throughout the final decade of his life, especially during his years at the Minnesota Veterans Home, Jim became known for his humor, infectious smile, and joyful laughter. He had a unique ability to brighten the day of those around him. Everyone seemed to have a soft spot in their heart for Jim, inspired by the resilience and joy with which he faced life’s challenges. His presence brought encouragement and happiness to countless people, and he will be deeply missed.Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jim’s life on Thursday, June 4, at Redeeming Love Church, 2425 White Bear Avenue in Maplewood, Minnesota. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life service following at 11:00 a.m. In honor of Jim, we invite you to wear red!
