Joseph John Kammel

Dr. Joseph John Kammel, age 62 of Minneapolis, MN passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 7, 2025. Joe is preceded in death by his father, Joseph John Kammel Sr. Joe is survived by his mother, Joyce Kammel, Onalaska, WI, sister Jill Vander Maten, Coon Rapids, MN, Jalil Saab, companion, Minneapolis, MN, his aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as, great nieces and nephews.  

Born in Lacrosse, WI, Joe was the eldest of two children. Joe graduated from Onalaska High School in 1981 and went on to earn his B.A. from Northwestern College, Orange City, IA, his M.A.T.S from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Hamilton, MA and a D.Min from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. His careers included, lifeguard, management of childhood nutrition programs, lay pastoral church leadership and digital network equipment sales. Joe was known for his integrity and special care he gave his coworkers, congregants and clients.

Joe was an avid traveler and had adventures throughout the world, including Africa, Cuba, Asia, Brazil, Dubai, and so many more . He enjoyed exploring whatever surroundings he found himself in, and trying all the foods of culture. Joe loved reading books and doing jigsaw puzzles, the bigger the better. Retirement allowed Joe to spend more time at his health club sitting in the sushi bar, reading books and socializing, especially with the staff who also became close friends to him.
