Jane M. Parlow
January 9, 1941 — April 18, 2026
Jane Marjorie Parlow
1941-2026
In a quote from Billy Grahm in his later years… “If you hear I’ve died don’t believe it, I’ve only changed addresses.”
And so Jane was once again reunited with Don at their new address on April 18th, 2026 at 2:53 AM.
Jane was born in Sugar Island on January 9th, 1941 to Clara (Lutz) Uttech and Alvin Uttech. Jane attended a one-room schoolhouse for her early education and eventually graduated from Watertown High School.
During high school she met her lifelong love…even if she didn’t really have any interest in him at first! On October 8th, 1960 she married Don at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Sugar Island. In October of 1961, Don was called to active duty with the Army National Guard. This left Jane alone several weeks before her oldest daughter, Leila, was born. In 1962, the family was once again reunited and in 1963 Jane welcomed her second born Wendy. Shortly thereafter, the family moved from the Watertown area to Jefferson.
It was a few years later when Jane experienced the loss of their unborn child. Jane took time to physically and emotionally heal from their loss. In 1969, they were entrusted with the care of an infant (Andy) and teenage boy (Carey) while their mother healed from an illness. Jane (and Don) formed a lifelong bond with the boys. In 1973, life changed again when her third and final daughter, Tanya was born. The family was then complete.
Jane was a homemaker for many years, a CNA and then when the need necessitated picked a few Friday night waitressing gigs. In the early 80s Jane went back to school to become a nurse. She was extremely proud of her accomplishment and her nursing career. She continued to renew her nursing license into her later years…”because you just never know when it might be needed."
Jane was a person that loved her family, cherished her friends and treasured her faith. Jane prayed for everyone and she took on the pain and struggles of her friends and family as her own. We often joked that she would have to go to bed an hour early just so she could get all her special prayers in.
Jane was the best mother and the greatest proudest grandmother…and great grandmother. She gave fully of herself to her children and grandchildren and she had immense pride in their accomplishments.
Jane was also a devoted spouse to Don. God granted Jane and Don almost 64 years of marriage. They held each other up. God was always the center of their home.
Jane was an avid gardener, purveyor of flowers, baker, cook, seamstress, mender, caretaker, teacher, crafter and the only person that could get out every single stain the Parlow family could throw at her.
Jane leaves behind her three daughters: Leila (Jim) Pals-Waterford, Wendy (Stephen) Parlow-Lewein-Jefferson and Tanya (Thomas) Stewart-Waterloo. Eight grandchildren: Drew (Ashley) Gorman-Oconomowoc, Tyler (Shelbie) Gorman-Madison, Alyssa (Adam) Ruhland-Madison, Lynzie (Josh) Buol-Janesville, Ciara (Seo) Buol-Janesville, Cathy Lewein-Fort Atkinson, Madalyn Stewart-Madison and Tommy Stewart-Madison and seven great grandchildren (and one more on the way). Also her sister Fay Eckes and sister-in-law Karen Parlow. Her step grandchildren Corey (Hannah) Lewein-MN and Tyler (Kristen) Lewein-Belgium and step great grandchildren. Special friend Mike. Special friends and neighbors Barry, Lisa, Mike, Mary and Tyler and her church family and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, Parents Clara and Alvin, her sisters-in-law Delores Powers, Margaret Parlow, Lorraine Schroedl and her brother-in-law John Jr. Parlow and a niece and several nephews.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on April 24th, 2026. Visitation to be held from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 324 S Sanborn Ave, Jefferson, WI 53549, with Pastor Christopher Raiford leading a service at 11:30 AM. Interment St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
On behalf of Jane, the family would like to personally thank Dr. Porter, Dr. Kontny, the Rainbow Hospice staff, the staff at the SSM Health Infusion Clinic in Fort Atkinson and the caring staff of Visiting Angels. Your care and concern for our mom was evident and so appreciated by our family.
