Carol Donoho

d. May 7, 2026

November 25, 1943 – May 7, 2026 Carol Kay Collingwood Donoho, 82, of Payette, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home on May 7, 2026. Born on November 25, 1943, in Payette, Carol was a lifelong resident of the community she loved — a place that was forever shaped by her warmth, her generosity, and her enormous heart.

Carol was born to the late Morris Collingwood and the late Thelma McCrea, and she grew up with deep roots in the Payette community she would call home for all of her 82 years. A true Payette original, she holds the distinction of being the first car hop at the local A&W — a fitting start for a woman who would spend her life serving others with a smile.

She devoted 25 years to serving her community at the Payette County Assessor’s Office, where she became a familiar and beloved presence. Among her greatest sources of pride was helping elderly residents qualify for the circuit breaker program — it was the kind of work that suited her perfectly, because caring for others was simply in her nature.

Carol is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Jerry Lee Donoho; her children Douglas Lee Donoho Sr. (Dori), Cindi Kay Donoho Ruiz (Ted McGourty), Troy Donoho (Starla), and Tiffany Ann Donoho; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings Mike McCrea, Karen Collingwood, and Dan Collingwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Terri Lynn Donoho; and her siblings Richard Collingwood, Ronald Collingwood, and Connie Ireland. Carol had a gift for making everyone in her life feel truly seen, cherished, and loved. She found joy in the simple and the treasured — the sound of the Oregon Coast, the feel of yarn in her hands as she crocheted baby blankets for her grandchildren, and the satisfaction of tending to the yard of her beloved home.

Carol and Jerry were members of a hot rod car club, and she loved going on rod runs with her honey in their 1934 Ford pickup. Come Christmastime, she was in her element, piling all the girls into the Suburban for marathon shopping trips that were as much about the laughter and togetherness as they were about finding the perfect gift. And every holiday season, her kitchen came alive with the Christmas cookies she was famous for — a tradition as reliable and comforting as Carol herself.

She had a signature style all her own, known to everyone who loved her for her beloved Donoho Red, a color as distinctive and warm as the woman who claimed it. She took fierce pride in her family, and those who knew her knew that loving the people in her life wasn’t just something Carol did — it was who she was.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
