Alex Robert Sheaffer
November 3, 1989 — June 11, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that Glenn & Kathy Sheaffer announce the passing of their oldest son, Alex Robert Sheaffer, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 11, at the age of 36.
Alex grew up just outside Richmond, Virginia. The family enjoyed camping and taking the jet ski out on the lake. Alex and his brother, Zachary, shared a love for dirt bikes, jumping and racing. Because of his good looks, athletic abilities, high intellect, charismatic charm, and infectious happy energy; he was often thought of as “the guy who had it all”.
He attended William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and studied philosophy and psychology. Alex went back to Richmond and lived there for many years. He recently moved to Bluffton to be close to his family. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a vibrant and positive man. Alex was committed to his daily workouts, always pushing himself to stay strong, With his dark, shoulder length, curly hair and his well-cut physique, he was nicknamed “Aqua Man”. He was a true lover of the outdoors and found peace and beauty in nature. He was working at both Spanish Wells Club and The Golf Club at Indigo Run.
Alex was also a warrior who fought a private, heavy battle: he struggled for many years with addiction. But he was deeply committed to getting better. With a true desire to do better and make his family proud, Alex poured himself into recovery - faithfully attending multiple meetings and finding solace in church. He always talked highly of his brothers in recovery. He wanted nothing more than a bright future with his son, Noah, who was the light of his life. Though the addiction ultimately won the battle, it did not strip him of his beautiful heart, his faith, or his love for his family.
Alex is survived by his beloved son, Noah (4 yrs old); his devoted parents, Glenn & Kathy Sheaffer; his brother, Zachary, wife Cassi and their daughter Evie Faye; his sister, Kristalea, partner Zachary and their son Neo; and his sister, Tristyn. He also leaves behind his grandmothers, Mary Ader and Gloria Sheaffer, alongside numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 4:30 at the Spanish Wells Clubhouse on Hilton Head Island. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Alex’s bright spirit, his courageous fight, and his beautiful life.
