Catherine Louise Snyder
October 22, 1944 — March 21, 2026
Catherine "Kay" Louise Snyder, born on October 20, 1944, in Rosedale, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, in Hilton Head, South Carolina, surrounded by the love of her family and the warmth of cherished memories.
Kay was the beloved daughter of her late parents and a treasured sister to Darlene Horney. She married her devoted husband, Charles Snyder, with whom she shared a deep and abiding love that inspired all who knew them. The essence of their relationship was characterized by loyalty, kindness, and mutual respect, a testament to the power of enduring love. Together, they created a home filled with joy, warmth, and countless cherished moments.
Kay was proud to be the mother of Brian Snyder and Dawn McCulloch, whose lives were enriched by her unconditional love and nurturing spirit. She was also a beloved mother-in-law to Gary McCulloch and a loving grandmother to her granddaughters, Chloe and Palmer McCulloch. Her family was her pride and joy, and she took great delight in the simple pleasures of life spent together, whether cooking, baking, or simply sitting outside enjoying a cup of tea while watching the birds.
An Overlea High School graduate from Baltimore, Maryland, Kay dedicated herself to her family during her early years before continuing her professional journey in the family business, Snyder & Son Voting Machines. She later transitioned to work with the State of Maryland, demonstrating her commitment to both her family and her community throughout her life.
Kay’s personality shone brightly through her acts of caring and compassion. She was known for her nurturing spirit, always making sure guests left her home with full stomachs and warm hearts. Her bravery and protective nature drew others to her, and she exemplified grace in every aspect of her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Christ in Baltimore, Maryland, where family and friends can gather to honor Kay's remarkable journey through life. She will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her, including the dedicated staff at The Pines of Hilton Head, who cherished her presence during her time there.
Kay’s legacy will endure through the love she fostered, the wisdom she imparted, and the memories she created. The phrase inscribed in her memory, "A mother’s love doesn’t fade with time—it becomes the light that guides us through the darkest nights," captures the impact she had on her loved ones.
In honoring her life, we celebrate a remarkable woman whose spirit and love will remain forever in our hearts.
