Obituary for Dorine M. Chartrand

Dorine M. Chartrand, age 95, entered eternal rest on April 6 in Bluffton, South Carolina, passing peacefully while surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on August 5, 1930, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Dorine’s life was a testament to steadfast faith, quiet strength, and abiding love. Deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, she carried a profound love for Jesus that guided her daily life. Her faith shaped her compassion, sustained her through life’s challenges, and overflowed into the gentle care she gave to all who knew her.

Above all else, Dorine cherished her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was found in the lives of her children and their families. Her love was constant and generous, creating a home filled with warmth, comfort, and enduring memories. Through her presence, prayers, and example, she touched generations.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar O. Chartrand, and her cherished son, Oscar J. Chartrand.

Dorine is lovingly survived by her children: Theresa Pappas (Charlie), Marianne Branham (Clint), Catherine Finn, and Christopher Chartrand. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, each one a blessing she held close to her heart.

Dorine leaves a beautiful legacy of unwavering faith, devotion to family, and a life lived with grace, humility, and love.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 15, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s, located on Pinckney Colony Road. A reception will follow at St. Gregory’s.

“Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.May she rest in peace. Amen.”

The family kindly invites those attending the funeral to wear red, in loving remembrance of Dorine’s fondness for red shirts.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers at Agape Care Hospice, as well as the kind families from St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church who faithfully brought my mom communion each week. She truly looked forward to your visits—they meant so much to her. Those moments were special, and she always made a point to dress up in her red shirts just for you.
