Elizabeth Ann Jolls

Elizabeth Ann (Batchelder) Jolls, known as Ann Jolls to her friends and family, passed away peacefully April 28th 2026 at the Addison assisted living community in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Born in NY City on July 1st 1930, the only child of Ted and Dorothy Batchelder of Potsdam, NY.

Ann grew up in Maplewood New Jersey and then Potsdam NY where she met her beloved husband Keith who was a border in her parent’s home at the time while going to Clarkson College.

After graduation from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville NY, Ann married her husband of 53 years with a borrowed wedding gown from a friend and had the reception in her parent’s home in Potsdam.

Ann graduated from Sarah Lawrence with a degree in psychology and Art. After many years of raising a family and relocating several times to follow her husband’s career moves, she landed in Houston Texas and embarked on a career as a realtor with Century 21 where she earned the 1 Million dollar producer award in the 80’s.

After Houston she and Keith moved to Fort Lauderdale where she lived for 38 years until 2020 when she moved to Bluffton South Carolina to be closer to her son Chris and her daughter in law Wendy. Keith passed away in 2005 in Fort Lauderdale.

In her younger days she was known as “the life of the party”. For instance, she liked to sneak out of the dorm at Sarah Lawrence with her friends and go up to New Haven to meet boys from Yale.

On another occasion, when they were living in their very first house in Cedar Grove New Jersey, they thought it would be a fun prank to take and hide the liquor store delivery driver’s truck.

Ann is predeceased by her parents, Ted Batchelder and Dorthy Batchelder, her husband Frederick Keith Jolls, and her daughter in law Kim Jolls. .

Ann is survived by her son Christopher Keith Jolls and his wife Wendy Jolls, their daughter Kate McDonnell, her partner Dan Olenechuk and her son Curtis Edward Jolls who lives in Ft. Lauderdale.

Ann chose to be cremated and her remains will be buried alongside her parents in the Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam New York.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the entire staff at the Addison Assisted Living who took amazingly good care of Ann as well as the Crescent Hospice group who worked with them.

As her husband Keith was descended from Clarrisa Jolls a Mohawk Indian, for many years Keith and Ann always liked to donate to the St. Joseph’s Indian School in South Dakota. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to [email protected]
