Patricia Anne Whyte née Martindale, 79, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026.

Patricia was born on December 15, 1946, in Rochester, New York. She dedicated her life to education and learning, earning a master's degree in education and serving as an Advanced Placement English teacher for more than 34 years. Throughout her distinguished career, she inspired generations of students through her passion for literature, thoughtful instruction, and unwavering commitment to enriching their educational experiences. Her classroom was a place where students were encouraged to think critically, appreciate great works of literature, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Her greatest professional joy came from helping students discover the power of literature and the confidence to express their own ideas.

Patricia was known not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her vibrant personality. She had a deep love of reading and travel, always eager to explore new places, ideas, and cultures. Her keen wit, sharp intellect, and wonderful sense of humor brought joy to family, friends, colleagues, and students alike.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Norman L. Whyte, and her son, Christian A. Whyte.

Patricia's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched as an educator, mentor, wife, mother, and friend. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral services will be held on July 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 Saint Gregory Drive, Bluffton, South Carolina 29909.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patricia's memory to John Paul II Catholic School, 4211 N. Okatie Highway, Ridgeland, SC 29936, or online through the Warrior Fund.
