Alice Jones

Alice Jones, beloved wife and mother, of Summerville, SC, passed peacefully at home on May 5, 2026 at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Alice was born on July 28, 1951 in Newark, NJ to Henry and Catherine Lander. Early in her career she worked as a paralegal and later found deep joy working with children as a teacher’s assistant at Newington Elementary School; first in a class for autistic students and later in Kindergarten. Her patience, warmth and encouragement made a lasting difference. 

Alice and Basil Jones were married on February 24, 1990. They had known and loved one another long before that day, meeting through their ski club in Virginia dating for 12 years and followed by 36 years of marriage. Together they lovingly raised twin children, their pride and joy. 

Alice was known for her radiant smile, boundless kindness and her caring presence lit up every room. She loved her husband and children immeasurably and did everything to fill her family’s life and home with an insurmountable amount of love, joy, laughter, pets, crafts, books, and games. She took care to make every holiday, most especially Christmas, a magical time. Alice was a gifted crafter and loved to sew, knit, crochet and do needlework. She immensely enjoyed reading, she cared for many beloved pets, and she treasured teaching children. 

Alice is survived by her devoted husband, Basil; two children, Courtney and Robert; and two sisters Renee and Susan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Catherine, and her brother, Jack. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
