Charles Edward Jones

Charles Edward “Ed” Jones, 66, of James Island, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, on the island he always called home.

Ed was born on December 30, 1959, in Charleston, South Carolina, and grew up on James Island. He attended school on James Island and spent much of his life surrounded by the community and people he loved.

Ed enjoyed life’s simple pleasures — being out on the water boating, spending time on the golf course, watching football, and caring for animals. He was a huge animal lover and had a soft spot for them throughout his life. He will be remembered for his love of family, his laid-back spirit, and the many memories shared with those closest to him.

He is survived by his son, Justin Jones; his stepdaughter, Charla Nease; his brother, Hal Jones and wife Mary; his niece, Kendall; and his nephews, Dru and Garrett.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Paul Jones and Laura Grace Harvey, as well as his longtime girlfriend, Brenda Owens.

A service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at James Island Baptist Church.

Ed will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
