Dail Buffington

Oct 14, 1951 — Jul 4, 2026

With deep sorrow and much love, the family of Dail H Buffington of Summerville, South Carolina, announces her passing on July 4, 2026, at the age of 74.

Dail was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on October 14, where she was raised and remained until shortly after she met her husband, Bill Buffington. After many years of marriage and living in a couple of states, Dail and Bill moved to the Charleston area in 1989, shortly after Hurricane Hugo, and they lived there for the remainder of her life.

Dail graduated from Garner Senior High School in 1969. She later became the mother of her only child, Kelli Brown. Dail was a fierce protector of those she loved and cared for. There are many stories of her stepping up to defend her family, friends, or anyone who seemed like an underdog.

Dail was an avid reader throughout her life. She read everything she could get her hands on, from the Bible to America classic literature, spy novels and non-fiction. It was rare to see Dail without a book in hand. When her eyesight began to fail, she discovered audiobooks and continued listening to any and every title she could obtain, often exceeding her monthly subscription limit. She was also an excellent writer, loving to craft short stories about life ‘s possibilities with an amazing imagination. Some of her work was even published. She was known for her storytelling, and that spilled over to her time with her granddaughters. They didn’t just do ordinary things together; they were “Grand Adventures”. She was devoted to the Lord and could share any scripture you wished to know.

Dail is survived by her loving husband, Bill Buffington, who cherished her and was by her side until her last breath; her daughter, Kelli Brown (Jeff Brown); her two precious granddaughters, Cayleigh Brown and Riley Brown. She also leaves behind brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many others who admired and loved her. She will be deeply missed by her family, especially by Bill, Kelli, and her granddaughters.

A memorial service for the family will be announced later.
