David Robertson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David “Robbie” Robertson, 75 years old, of Summerville, SC, who departed this life after battling an aggressive form of mesothelioma on June 22, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

David was born June 8, 1951, in Evansville, IN, and was the oldest son of Roy Robertson and Amy Elois (Bucy) Robertson. He was a beloved son, brother, spouse, parent, grandparent, and friend to many. David was strong in his faith and deeply devoted to his family. Known for his kindness, unwavering work ethic, and the love he showed to those around him, David touched many lives. He was an avid motorcyclist who cherished countless rides with family and friends, finding special joy in trips to the mountains, one of his favorite places to ride. David’s spirit of service shone through in his dedication to helping others in his church and community. He will be fondly remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the positive impact he made on everyone who knew him. David was proud to serve his country and community. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service, including two tours in Vietnam. Following his military career, David retired from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Department after 25 years of dedicated service. He will be remembered for his commitment, integrity, and the positive impact he made on those around him.

Michael (Belinda) Robertson and Amy (Robertson) Wilson; his step-children Kim Sweeney and Wil’oh Quesnel; his brothers, Darrell (Wanda), Donald (Lee), Danny (Charlotte), and Dennis; his grandchild Kaylyn (TJ), his step grandchildren, Brandon (Jessica), Alexander, Ali (Caleb), Elijah, and Samantha; one step-great grandchild, Olivia; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Julia; his father, Roy; his mother, Amy Elois; and son-in-law, Michael.

A service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for David will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church, located at 9110 Dorchester Road. Summerville, SC, on Saturday, July 11,2026, at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ministries of St. George’s. 

David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
