Donald Wayne Lee Sr

It is with sadness but great rejoicing that we announce the passing of Donald Wayne Lee Sr., who went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on November 28, 1955, Donald lived a life defined by his deep faith and an unwavering love for his family.

After high school, he married Sharon Kowalski Lee, beginning a lifelong partnership built on commitment, resilience, and shared love. Their marriage was a foundation for their family, and the life they built together remains one of his greatest legacies.

An Air Force Veteran, Donald’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by wife of almost 50 years, Sharon, his two sons, Donald Wayne Lee Jr. (Rebecca) and Adam Manning Lee (Stephanie) and he was a wonderful Papa to his five grandchildren (Ruth, Anna, Abigail, Emmaline & Sawyer) who brought him immense joy and comfort throughout his life. The lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he poured into his family will continue to live on through them. Memories of shrimping and off-shore fishing and being on the water will remain with his family forever.

For 18 years, Donald bravely battled ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), facing each day with resilience, dignity, and a determination that inspired everyone around him. His courage in the face of such a difficult illness became a testament to the depth of his character and the strength of his spirit.

Donald is preceded in death by his father, John Manning Lee, who was a SC Highway Patrolman for over 30 years and passed away in 1996. He is survived in death by his mother Esther Lee of Simpsonville, SC and his brothers Stanley (Pam) Lee of Fountain Inn, SC and Wylie Lee of Bonneau, SC.

A visitation will be held at Crowfield Baptist Church, where Donald and Sharon were faithful members, at 100 Hunters Lane, Goose Creek, SC 29445 on Thursday April 9, 2026, at 2 pm with a service to follow after at 3:00 pm.
