Doretta Wellman-Ruyts

Doretta (Dory) Wellman-Ruyts passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday May, 16, 2026.

Born in Hemlock November 5, 1957 she went to Hemlock Schools from K-12 graduating in 1976. On October 28, 1977 she married David L. Ruyts who predeceased her on November 16, 2020. Being a Military wife she moved from San Diego, upstate New York and finally Charleston, South Carolina where she lived for the last 40 years.

Dory enjoyed crafting and spending time with her family.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories 2 Daughters, Velvet Kessler and Margo Ruyts, 6 grand children and 2 great-grandchildren all in the Charleston area. Her sister Donna Crofoot, Merrill, MI and in-laws Art and Ginger Ruyts of Saginaw, MI. Brothers in-laws, Paul, Don (Penny) and Ralph Ruyts. Also her dear friends Angie and Darla and beloved dogs Benji and Mandy. She was predeceased by her husband David, parents Fred and Joan Wellman, brothers Dave and Dale Wellman, brother in-law Lonnie Crofoot and sister in-law Laura Wellman.

Per Dory's wishes, Cremation has taken place.
