Douglas Allen Marlowe
Mar 14, 1986 — Jul 11, 2026
Obituary for Douglas Allen Marlowe, 40 of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2026, leaving his family, friends, countless baseball players and their familia, and a community that loved and respected him.
Doug was more than a coach — he was a mentor and a role model. He believed in every child he coached, encouraging them to work hard, treat others with respect, and never give up. Whether on or off the field, Doug always made time to celebrate successes, offer guidance and support those that needed him.
He will be remembered for his kindness, patience, quiet strength, and the confidence he inspired in others. His impact reached far beyond baseball, helping shape the lives of many young people and leaving a legacy that will live on for years to come.
Above all else, Doug’s greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband to Nikki and proud father to Wyatt and Dean. They were the center of his whole world, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.
He is survived by his wife, Nikki Marlowe and their two boys, Wyatt and Dean; his parents Victoria & Michael Showalter, and father, John Marlowe, Michael Showalter; his brothers Nicholas Henson (Crystal), Bradford Henson (Katherine), and Michael Showalter, Jr. (Jacqueline), his sisters Shannon (Mark) Funderburk, Gwen Marlowe & Jennifer Marlowe, his in laws Darin & Kristy Deschaine, his sister-in-law Paige (David) Johnston and sister-in-law Amanda (Sean) Bernard, his grandparents, James and Carolyn Malphrus, & Karen Strezlec. He is also remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Ralph Strezlec.
A service honoring Doug’s life will be held on Sunday, July 19th at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 888 Central Ave, Summerville, SC 29483. Friends, family, and the baseball community are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a man who gave so much of himself to others.
Doug Marlowe will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
