Elise M Wootton
September 10, 1945 — June 3, 2026
Elise M. Wootton, 80, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2026.
Born on September 10, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, Elise was the daughter of Mary and Enrique Escarraz. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose love and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Angela, Rosanne, and Elizabeth; her eight grandchildren, Dillon, Julia, Lilly, Liam, Cheyenne, Isaiah, Brianna, and Alexandrya; and her three siblings, her brother Enrique and her sisters Elaine and Jean.
Elise earned a Master of Arts degree from Florida State University and was an accomplished musician, she played the flute and achieved the honor of first chair in band. She was a warmhearted librarian at Sanders-Clyde School for many years and later served as dedicated music teacher at Blessed Sacrament School.
She was married to George Wootton from 1978 until 1995.
Elise had a passion for art and was an active participant at the Goose Creek Senior Center, where she enjoyed creating artwork and exhibiting it in numerous community art shows.
She will be fondly remembered for her love of music, her strong faith, her affection for flamingos, and her enjoyment of mystery novels and television programs.
Elise loved watching game shows such as Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, and The Price Is Right. When she wasn't watching those, she could often be found enjoying mystery programs such as Murder, She Wrote, adaptations of Agatha Christie mysteries, Poirot, and Miss Marple.
Her love for the beach led her to travel to Florida several times each year for family vacations, creating cherished memories with those she loved most.
Elise was a pillar of strength for her family—blessed by love, strengthened by faith, and deeply cherished by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in their hearts forever.
