Esther Mae Carolyn Brown
March 6, 1954 — April 5, 2026
Esther Mae Carolyn Brown, or as we all affectionately called her, Linda, was born on March 6, 1954. She lived her entire life in Moncks Corner, SC. She fell asleep in death on April 5, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Marion and Katherine Brown, her sister, Sharon Rose Brown, and half-sister Evelyn Reid.
She is survived by her sister, Rose Brown; half-brother Joseph Jackson; her aunt, Leola Darby; her uncle, Ed Darby (Vera); her aunt, Suzanne Gadsden; and Henrietta Marion. She is also survived by a host of cousins who loved her deeply.
Linda's love for children led her to earn a Certificate in Early Childhood Development. Even though she may not have given birth to any children, she certainly touched the lives of many young ones. She was the early morning drop-off and after-school program for so many children. She used her sense of humor in a way to teach that they didn't know they were still in school. Her love for children was evident to all who knew her and laughed at her jokes. To some, she was Miss Linda or Sister Brown; to her, they were all her children.
She loved to cook, known for her biscuits and spicy collard greens. She enjoyed trying new food spots. It was a family joke that she could have been a food critic or food taster. She was also a self-taught tour guide.
The love that changed her life and shaped her future was her love for Jehovah God. Linda, along with other family members, came in contact with Jehovah’s Witnesses in the late 60s. Linda accepted a personal Bible study and, as they say, she never looked back. She made her dedication to Jehovah and symbolized it by water baptism on April 22,1972. The more she learned, the more she wanted to tell others. This led to her becoming a full-time pioneer in the mid 80's.Reflecting her love for Jehovah, their home became known for its welcoming hospitality. Hospitality and generosity went hand in hand on Darby's Circle. A knock on the door and you would often hear Linda say, "Come on in," followed by a smile. As you got to know Linda, you quickly understood family was important to her. As her health declined, her love and faith remained strong and immovable. So it's only fitting to close with what Linda would say "See ya soon".
