George Randall “Randy” Shirar, 63, of Summerville, passed away on April 11, 2026. Born in Charleston on July 6, 1962, Randy was the beloved son of the late George R. Shirar and the late Eleanor Eileen Shirar.
Randy was a talented master boat mechanic and small engine mechanic whose skill and dedication were known by many. He had a true passion for working with his hands and spent much of his life doing what he loved. Outside of work, Randy enjoyed riding bikes, boating, and taking his dirt bike out whenever he had the chance.
Those who knew Randy will remember his warm smile, generous spirit, and kind heart. He was a happy man who never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. His easygoing nature and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
Randy is survived by his son, George Randall Shirar Jr.; his sisters, Tamela Shirar Kline and Sharon Shirar Rodgers; his nieces whom he loved like daughters, Amber Kline Wiggins (Brian) and Amanda Kline Johnson (Jason); nephews James Shirar, Seth Shirar, and Michael Hilbourn; nieces Sara Veronee (Jimmy) and Jennifer Shirar; and great-nieces Mariah Hilbourn and Makayla Hilbourn.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Shirar (Vicki), and his parents, George R. Shirar and Eleanor Eileen Shirar.
A Celebration of Life honoring Randy will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Givhans Ferry State Park, Shelter #1. Entrance fees will be covered when mentioning Randy’s name.
Randy’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
