Herbert Erroll Hensley

Herbert Erroll Hensley, originally from Murphy, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. He was 75 years old, born on September 12, 1950. His other hometown was Carolina Beach, NC.

He graduated from New Hanover High School, Wilmington, NC, in 1968. He then served in the US Army for four years. Herbie then moved to Palm Bay, FLA, where he met the love of his life, April Stevens. He lived there for over 45 years, working in the swimming pool industry. He loved the creative side of the pool business. In 2019 he moved to Goose Creek, SC, to live with his sister, Nancy.

Also known as Herbie or Chux, he suffered a short illness with brain cancer and other health issues. He was in the Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital in Summerville, SC, then in White Oak Manor Nursing Home / Hospice Facility in the Charleston / Goose Creek, SC area. 

Herbie was preceded in death by his wife, April Elaine Stevens, his parents, Hugh Eden Hensley, Sr. and Virginia Kate Padgett Hensley, his two older Brothers, Hugh Eden (Butch) Hensley, Jr. and Terrance Malcolm (Terry) Hensley. 

Herbie is survived by his sister, Nancy Carlene Hensley Burke, his nephew, Buck Henry Burke (Niki Galyen Burke), great niece, Jordan Hensley Burke. Other nephews and nieces, Bradford Hugh Hensley (Raeann),Taylor, Emma and Kristal. Beth Allison Hensley Lindgren (Brent) Breanna Hope Lindgren Myers (Austin) and Branson Cole Lindgren. Michael Barcel (Valerie) and Mason. 

Chux has been cremated. The family will hold a private burial in Murphy, NC, at a later date.
