Jackie Lee Grooms

Jul 13, 1962 — Apr 17, 2026

Jackie Lee Grooms, 63, of Hanahan, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2026, at Roper St. Francis Hospital.

Born July 13, 1962, he was the son of the late Eddie Grooms and the late Agnes Grooms.

Jackie faithfully attended The Church of God, where he served as an usher, groundskeeper, and willing helper in any capacity needed. He gave his life to Christ, was baptized, and lived out his favorite verse, John 3:16, through his generous spirit — helping the homeless, inviting others to church, and supporting churches throughout the community.

He was employed for much of his career at Knightsville Finest. Jackie loved fishing, NASCAR, outdoor grilling, and was known in his younger days for his pool-playing skills, winning tournament awards. Above all, he will be remembered for his big heart.

He is survived by his wife, Belinda Jean Grooms, whom he married on November 5, 2005; three children, James L. McDonald, Beatrice D. McDonald, and Cherie L. McDonald; six grandchildren, Hunter Lee McDonald, Neveah Skye McDonald, Abby McDonald, Jordan McDonald, Nova McDonald, and Joshua "Bam Bam" McDonald; two great-grandchildren, Harmony Hinson and Demira Hinson; as well as extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at The Church of God, 5813 Sledge Street, Hanahan, SC.

In lieu of flowers, The Church of God will be assisting the family by collecting contributions toward helping the family with cremation and final arrangements
