Jerry Viita

Apr 20, 1972 — Jun 13, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jerry Viita, a beloved father, fiancé, brother, and friend, who left this world on June 13, 2026, after a short illness. Born on April 20, 1972, in the picturesque landscapes of Scotland, Jerry's life was a testament to the beauty of embracing the simple joys and the warmth of companionship.

Jerry was the cherished son of Janice Goldsmith, step-father Eddie Goldsmith and father, the late Jerry Wayne Viita. His father, along with his two older sisters, stepson Chase and granddaughter Isabella preceded him in death, and now, they are reunited once more. Jerry's journey through life was shared with a remarkable family who survives him: his devoted fiancé, Ada Samonte, his daughters Amber Stefani (Tyler) and Paige Viita, and his stepchildren, Patrick Barbee (Madison) and Elizabeth Barbee. His sisters, Julie Weinburg (Arthur) and Laura Lewis (Clay), along with his brother, Steven McBlain, brother-in-law Chad Kessing (Kandy), brother-in-law Brian Kessing (Michelle) mother-in-law Rose Herring and several nieces and nephews, will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. He was a proud grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren—Hunter, Charlie, and Clementine.

Jerry was a gentle soul with a heart as vast as the great outdoors he adored. Whether he was exploring the winding trails of the woods or casting a line into the serene waters of a lake, he found peace and joy in nature's embrace. Together with Ada, he shared countless adventures, teaching her the art of fishing and shooting, and savoring life's simple pleasures.

Known for his kindness, humor, and unwavering friendship, Jerry was a beacon of support to all who knew him. He possessed an extraordinary ability to fix anything, a skill matched only by his willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. His laughter and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

In this time of heartache, Jerry's family extends their deepest gratitude to all who have offered prayers and support. His passing was as sudden as it was heartbreaking, leaving a void in the lives of many. Yet, in our grief, we find solace in knowing that Jerry is free from pain and reunited with those he dearly missed.

As per Jerry's wishes, there will be no formal funeral or viewing. Instead, we invite you to honor him in your own way—perhaps by raising a glass, sharing a story, or simply reflecting on the incredible person he was. Let us remember Jerry for the light he brought into our lives, his indomitable spirit, and the love he so generously shared.

Jerry Viita's legacy will forever be etched in the memories of those who loved him. May we carry forward his kindness, cherish the laughter he brought, and hold dear the moments we shared. Rest in peace, dear Jerry, knowing you were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
