John Melton Doriott, 73, of Summerville, SC, a proud veteran of the United States Navy passed away at his residence on Friday, May 30, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1951 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of the late John A. Doriott and Mary Evelyn Melton. John Melton Doriott grew up in Henderson, KY. and graduated from Henderson County High School in Henderson, Ky in 1969. He attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

John Melton Doriott enlisted in the United States Navy in 1977. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of SK1. As part of this service, he was a Servmart Supervisor, Instructor, Computer Technician and Purchasing Agent. He received a Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy "E" Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He retired from the United States Navy in 1997. 

John Melton Doriott is survived by his wife, Angelita (Vergel) Doriott and step-daughter, Arlene Vergel Phelps and her husband, William Shannon Phelps. His loved ones and friends will remember him as a good Christian man who was kind, loving, and had a great sense of humor. He loved reading books, especially from the Author JRR Tolkien, playing and watching golf, and Carolina Gamecocks football on tv.   

A viewing and Military service honoring the life of John Melton Doriott will be held at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, 281 Treeland Drive, Suite C, Ladson, SC 29456 on Sunday, June 8, 2025. The viewing will be at 2 pm and the service at 3 pm. Please join us after the service for the Memorial Reception at The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation, 5000 Wescott Club Drive, Summerville, SC 29485 at 5 pm.   

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Kidney Foundation or National Kidney Foundation in John's name.
