Ray Thompkins Sr
Apr 2, 1950 — Jun 27, 2026
Ray Thompkins, Sr.
Ray Thompkins, Sr., 76, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Known for his quick wit and perfectly timed one-liners, Ray leaves behind memories filled with laughter, love, and time well spent with family and friends.
Ray retired from Robert Bosch and proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserves. He enjoyed spending his free time bowling and playing golf, but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, friends and two spoiled pups. Whether sharing a joke, story or delivering a perfectly timed one-liner, Ray had a gift of bringing laughter to those around him. His humor, dedication, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Elnita Thompkins.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sandy; his two sons, Ray (Shannon) and Ronnie; two sisters, Terry (David) and Shirley (Tim); two brothers, Leanue (Betty) and Denny (Nita); loving Paw Paw to his five grandchildren, JT (Sydney), Alyssa (Chris), Shane, Trey, and Raelyn; great-granddaughter, Fallon and one great-granddaughter expected in November, Elaina.
Though he will be deeply missed, Ray leaves behind countless memories that reflect the love he had for us, memories that will be cherished and never forgotten.
A memorial service celebrating Ray's life will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Simplicity, 7475 Peppermill Parkway, North Charleston, SC 29418.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Ray's memory to the Charleston Animal Society, honoring his love for animals, especially his beloved dogs, Cooper and Charlie. Make a Gift in Honor or Memory of a Loved One – Charleston Animal Society
