Franklin Delano Windham Jr.

February 17, 1966 — March 29, 2025

Franklin “Bubba” Delano Windham, Jr. 59, of Columbia, SC, died peacefully, with his wife by his side, on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Born on February 17, 1966, he was the son of Franklin "Gabby” Delano Windham, Sr. and the late Ruth Smith Windham.

Bubba grew up working beside his dad in the used car business. After graduating from Spring Valley High School in 1984, Bubba worked as a mechanic and car dealer for nearly 40 years. For the last 5 years he was employed at Palmetto Apparel, which he thoroughly enjoyed, but still loved to tinker with cars.

Bubba loved sports and people. He had a heart of gold and made friends with almost everyone that he met. As a kid he played recreational football, was a star basketball player in middle and high school, and also played high school football. As a young teen, he started playing church softball and played for 30+ years, eventually becoming the coach. Bubba loved playing pool and was in the APA league for years, he even got to play in the APA National 9-Ball tournament in Las Vegas. He loved watching most sports but especially loved NASCAR, the Gamecocks and the Braves. Aside from sports, Bubba loved hanging out with friends, spending time with family and always looked forward to spending weekends at the family lake house.

A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he was survived by his wife, Susan, his sons, Trae Windham (Shannon), Dane Windham (Gabby), step-daughter, Michelle Doar (Ben) and his grandsons, Ellis, Damien, Kyle and Darryl. He is also survived by his father, his sisters, Donna Dorner (Ralph), Tracy Corn (Randy Sr.) and Bridgette Branson (Ray Sr.), nephews, David Dorner (Kinsy), Randy Corn, Jr. (Kerri), James Corn (Kim), Ray Branson Jr., his niece, Abby Branson, his mother-in-law, Nancy G. Foster and brother-in-law, Michael Mauldin, as well as great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, many cousins and numerous friends.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Joshua Dorner.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Rehoboth Church, 6911 Two Notch Road in Columbia, SC with Pastor Mike Maston officiating. The family will receive guests following the service, in the Christian Life Center, located behind the church.
