Molley Smoak Jesse
February 26, 1929 — October 21, 2023
Molley Smoak Jesse, 94, passed away on October 21, 2023, at home. She was born in Filbert, S.C. to the late Curtis Pinkney Smoak, and Bertie Lee Reynolds Smoak.
Molley grew up in Columbia and was a graduate of Columbia High School. She married Harold Lavern Jesse and followed him in his military career. She loved sewing, gardening, cooking, and crocheting. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was always doing things for others.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lavern Jesse, her brothers: Andrew Washington Smoak, Curtis Pinkney Smoak, Jr., her sisters: Bertie Smoak Culifer, Jane Smoak Roberts, Sallie Lou Smoak and her son in law, Jerry Francis Wells, Jr.
Molley is survived by her children, Harold Gene Jesse, Charles Francis Jesse (Carolyn) and Jane Elizabeth Jesse Wells, favorite granddaughter, Molley Jesse Clarkson (Edward) and favorite grandson, Blake Andrew Wells, great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Smoak Clarkson, Andrew Marion Clarkson, Lousia Reynolds Clarkson, and Sarah Lang Clarkson. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Lee Smoak Sykes.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 1:00 at First Baptist Church, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends and family at the family home after funeral services. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia South Carolina, 29201, or the National World War II Museum.
