Wilbur Leon Fancher

Wilbur Leon Fancher, age 94, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on June 23, 2026. He was born May 31, 1932 in Jolly, Texas, to Zeph Jirl and Lorena Dean Fancher.

Leon will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his love for praising God through music and the study of the Bible. He served his God by loving and serving his fellow man and encouraging unity in God’s church.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents and his six sisters: Verda Norville, Othella "Pat" Rogers, Willa "LaRue" Cox, Wanda Simi, Zoe Hill, and Glenna Langley.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Nancy McLemore Fancher; children: Scott Fancher (Susie), Kent Fancher (Laine), Lisa Fancher (Steve Frank), and Sara Voelker (Billy); 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on July 3, 2026 at 1:00 PM at GraceLife Church, 501 Clemson Rd, Columbia, SC 29229.

His family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time and asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Columbia Dream Center to honor the memory and legacy of Leon Fancher.
