Rhea Jean Bartlett

Rhea Jean Bartlett, 91, of Springfield, died peacefully at her residence of natural causes on Dec. 16, 2023. She was born to Norman and Ethel (Bussler) Gwinnup in Ellensburg, WA, on August 28, 1932. The family later moved to Stockton, CA, where she spent her formative years and enjoyed sports, particularly baseball, alongside her three brothers, Van, Danny and William Gwinnup. She met her future husband, Donald E. Bartlett, at the age of 14. She graduated from Stockton High School. She and Donald were married in 1955, remaining together until his death on Feb. 15, 2022. Rhea worked as a dental assistant. The couple spent many happy days camping, hunting, fishing and riding their Harley motorcycles. They especially enjoyed their time building their own home, even felling trees for lumber, on their property in Pioneer, CA. Rhea enjoyed making porcelain dolls, cards and ceramic figurines. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Parker of Tucson, AZ; a son, John Bartlett of Eugene; grandchildren, Jenna, Michael and Katie Bartlett; Ryan Nagamine; Jeff and Jon Parker; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services will be held at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home, 7305 Main Street, Springfield, OR on Jan. 5 at 11 a.m.
