Carmen Love Sasser
September 18, 1945 — May 5, 2026
In Loving Memory of Carmen Love Sasser
Carmen Love Sasser, 80, a beloved mother, “Nana”, and friend, passed away on May 5, 2026. Carmen was born on September 18, 1945, in Winter Haven, Florida. Carmen’s life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, laughter, and devotion to family.
Carmen grew up in Winter Haven, attending Snively Elementary School and later graduating from Winter Haven High School. She continued her education at Polk Community College and Southeastern University. Carmen was a member of Eastside Assembly of God.
Throughout her life, Carmen found joy in the simple things like fishing, playing games, watching sports, listening to music, and most of all, spending treasured time with family and friends. She was a remarkably talented self-taught piano player who occasionally blessed her church congregation by playing during worship services. Though she worked diligently throughout her career, Carmen would often say that her greatest accomplishment and deepest joy was her family.
Carmen was preceded in death by her father, Frank Love; her mother, Ila Carnley Love; her brothers, Leo Love and Theo Love; and her former husband, Thomas Phillip Sasser.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Carol (Greg) Gilmore of Auburndale, Cheryl (Archie) Campbell of Winter Haven, Jeff (Kelley) Sasser of Davenport, and Jennifer (David) Dismuke of Lakeland; and her seven beloved grandchildren, Nolan Gilmore, Gabe Gilmore, Archie Campbell, Cole Sasser, Ty Sasser, Brooke Dismuke, and Dawson Dismuke.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 8, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. at Steele’s Family Funeral Services, 207 Burns Lane, Winter Haven, Florida 33884.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastside A/G Church P.O. Box 2213 Winter Haven, FL 33883
Carmen’s kindness, faith, music, and love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
