Paul J. Giacomuzzi passed away on June 19, 2026.Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, Paul graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1978. Following his graduation, he served as a flight instructor at the university’s campuses in both Daytona Beach, Florida, and Prescott, Arizona. Paul enjoyed a distinguished career as an American Airlines pilot from August 1984 until his retirement in October 2021. He began his tenure at American Airlines as a 727-flight engineer and progressed to become a 727-check airman. In 1999, he transitioned to the 777, serving as a 777-check airman until his retirement. A highlight of his professional career was traveling to the Boeing plant in Seattle to take delivery of a brand-new 777 for American Airlines. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Paul found great joy in cooking for friends and family, golfing, biking, and working at his ranch. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Cheryl; his sister, Jill Ryder (John); his sister, Joyce Snelgrove (Steve); his sister-in-law, Christi Nicolay (Kenny Burns); his nephew, Dr. Mark Schoenike; his nephew, Scott Schoenike; his nephew, Scott Snelgrove; and his niece, Ashley Ryder. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Joseph Carlucci, Wanda Holland, Kayla Steen Dysard, and the team at Compassionate Care Hospice for their dedicated support. They also wish to thank his many prayer warriors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Paul's Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 11 from 5 to 8 pm at The Country Club of Winter Haven.
