Brian Patrick Neville
February 14, 1976 — April 17, 2026
Brian Patrick Neville passed away peacefully of natural causes in his sleep at home in Boise, Idaho, on April 17, 2026.
Brian was born in Santa Clara, California to Thomas and Naty Neville where his father was attending law school and his mother was completing her Masters Degree. The eldest of four children, Brian spent his early years in Boise and then the family moved to Columbia, Maryland, an upbringing he often remembered fondly. He was the leader of his gang of siblings running amok in the suburbs of Columbia, visiting Washington, D.C. often as well as Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Brian loved his summer vacations at Dam Neck Naval Station in Virginia Beach when his father was on active duty in the Naval Reserve. He returned with his family to Boise, Idaho in 1987 after his dad was appointed as a Magistrate Judge in Ada County. Brian attended Whitney Elementary school for sixth grade, then South Junior High and onto Borah High School where he graduated in 1994.
From a young age, Brian stood out for his natural charm, quick wit, and easy charisma. He was a natural and talented athlete. His favorite sport was soccer, at which he excelled, and he was invited to the Olympic Developmental Program Regional Camp when he was 15 years old. He loved skiing at Bogus Basin and his summers spent working as a lifeguard at Wild Waters Park in Boise. At Borah High School, he represented his senior class on student council. He enjoyed reading and writing, pouring over movie screenplays and writing his own fiction.
Brian’s life was profoundly shaped by the birth of his daughter, Rylee, in 1999. Their bond was immediate and enduring, and Brian jumped in with both feet when he became a father. He worked hard as her sole parent, and they were inseparable. In 2005, Brian and Rylee moved to Moscow, Idaho, where he pursued his legal education at the University of Idaho College of Law and graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2008. Rylee was a talented soccer player as well, and she was coached by Brian for several years. As she grew older, he dedicated himself to attending as many of her games as possible as she travelled for her local club and then while playing for Whitman College. Brian was deeply proud of Rylee, keeping her soccer photos in his office and sharing her accomplishments with anyone who would listen. Rylee now appreciates the confidence, resilience, and independence that he helped foster.
Brian devoted his professional life to serving others, particularly those in need. Before law school, he was a leader in the Youth Department at the Treasure Valley YMCA helping to create youth sports programming. Once he graduated from law school and became a member of the Idaho State Bar, he worked in criminal defense, family law, and immigration law throughout Southwest Idaho. Brian was deeply committed to his clients, advocating for them during some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments of their lives. He found great fulfillment in helping families navigate challenges and assisting individuals on their path to citizenship. Brian was widely regarded as a kind, compassionate person and was respected by prosecutors and defense
attorneys alike. Brian will be remembered for his humor and empathy. He had a gift for connecting with others and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Brian shared many years with his partner, Tina Walsh, and together they welcomed their son, Ryker, in 2017. Brian took great joy in becoming a father for the second time, and he was so proud of his son. Ryker holds close the joyful memories of his dad reading to him, eating popsicles and playing together, and going to watch movies. Saturday mornings were their special tradition: they would head to Camels Back Park to climb trees and explore the playground, then stop by Goody’s to pick up coffee and treats for Tina so she could sleep in, while Ryker chose a new stuffed animal to bring home. Brian loved watching Ryker grow into a strong, kind young man, and he cherished the time they spent together.
Brian is survived by his daughter Rylee and son Ryker; his loving and devoted parents, Thomas and Naty Neville; as well as his siblings: Charina (Dustin Newell); Christine (Donie Comstock); and Daniel (Eva). Brian is also survived by several nieces and nephews: William, Delaney, Macaria, and Weston.
